Our Story: Colossus Media Group

Author John Steinbeck said, ” A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike.” Our journey is no different in this sense. Our mission is to be an innovative agency, so it’s fitting that our journey isn’t the same as others. But how did Colossus Media Group become one of the premier digital marketing agencies in NJ? Here’s our story:

Humble Beginnings

Colossus Media Group’s humble beginnings share one thing in common with a famous origin story. Like Apple, our first headquarters was in our parents’ home. But we started our agency in our parents’ basement.

The Santamaria brothers, Dom and Rocco, had a vision. They wanted to create a marketing agency that could go toe-to-toe with anyone in quality. And they wanted to offer their clients fair rates while doing it. In 2017, they began working toward their goal.

Video Production

At first, Colossus Media Group only provided video production. Dom handled the business side–he’d find and secure clients, negotiate rates, schedule shoots, and drive our newly-purchased van. Rocco brought his artistic flair–he’d use his keen eye and strong editing skills to create videos. In fact, the agency got its start by shooting wedding videos. Eventually, we got to have our (wedding) cake and eat it too by getting bigger (and not because of the cake!).

Expanded Services

2018 was a big year for us. We expanded our services to provide clients with more marketing assets and services. For starters, we brought on a wonderful web developer (who built this site that was named a showcase site!). We didn’t stop there though.

Other additions to our team were a lead systems developer, software developer, director/lead editor, and a copywriter/digital marketing specialist (he’s amazing, and we’re not just saying that because he’s the one writing this).

New Office

Unfortunately, the Santamaria basement was getting too snug with all these bodies. So Colossus Media Group moved into a new office! When we looked for our new space, we knew that there was only one fitting place for two Monmouth County boys to call their work home.

An office at revitalized Fort Monmouth. So once our new 5,000 square-foot office was set, there was only one thing left to do.

More Growth

To start 2019, we set a goal and already achieved it–we wanted more growth. We added a chief technology officer and a head of new business development to our family. But we didn’t stop there. We’re signing more clients to continue our journey of giving businesses top-notch marketing for fair prices.

Colossus Media Group has come a long way from our parents’ basement. But our journey isn’t over yet. In fact, we’re just starting. We’ll get bigger and better, but we’ll always be Colossus.
